Cristiano Ronaldo who is currently on a mission of achieving a one thousand career goals to become the world’s most successful goal scorer in history defied the odds in Al Nassr’s clash with Al Wehda.
After scoring the opener in the 48th minute, He won a penalty in the 99th minute after his free kick the arm of a defender incurring a penalty for them.
As a penalty taker for Al Nassr and top scorer, It was expedient of him to take the penalty to continue his scoring legacy yet all odds were defied as he handed the ball over to Sadio Mane who has been drought with goals for his last nine (9) games.
Sadio Mane also responding to the call and scoring dedicated the goal to Ronaldo for being selfless.
This has caused several controversies on social media as Ronaldo receives applause from all walks around the world.
However, Another school of thought believes he did that to secure public sympathy.
Currently, He has 925 goals.
An alleged post match interview between Ronaldo and a journalist has also proven his selfless character;
“ You gave the penalty to Mane despite in top scorer race and chasing 1000 goals?
Ronaldo: “The records come naturally. I’ve said it before I don’t follow records, the records follow me, the 1000 goals and top scorer award are both coming and you will see it.”
